Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10) conducting air operations in the South Pacific, during the Marshalls and Gilberts Campaign, in December 1943. A Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat has just landed aft, and another circles astern. Overhead are two Grumman TBF-1 Avengers, and Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless is visible in front of the carrier.
