Description
English: The U.S. Navy submarine USS Skate (SS-305) is sunk during the first phase of "Demon II" maneuvers, off the coast of California (USA), 5 October 1948. She had previously been damaged in the "Operation Crossroads" atomic bomb tests in July 1946. Note the large oil slick.
