Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Ralph Talbot (DD-390) at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on 20 March 1946, with harbor tugs alongside and nearby. In May 1946, she was designated for use as a target in "Operation Crossroads", the atomic tests conducted at Bikini in July and August 1946. Contaminated with nuclear fallout during the tests, the destroyer was towed to Kwajalein where she was decommissioned 29 August 1946. She was finally sunk in deep water off the atoll on 8 March 1948.
