Description
English: The U.S. Navy repair ship USS Briareus (AR-12) at Mayport, Florida (USA), to conduct repairs to the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain (CVA-39).
Original caption: "Without fanfare or advance heralding, the Briareus, commanded by Capt. J.E. Watts, steamed into Mayport, effected much-needed repairs and replacements to the combat-worn Champ, and then, task completed, pointed her bow homeward to Norfolk." The original print bears a rubber stamped date of 22 December 1953.
