Description The U.S. Navy aircraft carriers USS Boxer (CV-21) and USS Princeton (CV-37) steam past the capsized hull of the battleship USS New York (BB-34) off Hawaii (USA) on 8 July 1948. New York was sunk by U.S. Navy ships and aircraft in armament tests. Note the oil slick from the sinking battleship.
