Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Borie (DD-215) sinking in the North Atlantic on 2 November 1943. Borie had been heavily damaged in a battle with the German submarine U-405 the night before. The U-boat sank and Borie was later sunk by a 500 lb (227 kg) bomb dropped by a Grumman TBF Avenger from the USS Card (CVE-11), piloted by Lt. (jg) Melvin H. Connley of Composite Squadron 9 (VC-9). Borie finally sank at 0955 hrs.
