Description
English: Lance Cpl. Arturo Gomez, a team leader with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, high fives his platoon sergeant after leading his Marines through successful cover and concealment procedures during a live-fire training exercise at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms, Calif., Jan. 8, 2006. The 29 Palms-based unit, a force of 1,200 Marines and sailors, are undergoing a 30-day combined arms exercise called Mojave Viper to prepare them for an upcoming deployment to Iraq later this year. The battalion is part of a rotation of forces that will replace Marine forces in Iraq's Al Anbar Province. In coming weeks, the Marines will also learn life-saving tactics, such as how to conduct a medical evacuation and react to an improvised explosive device. (Photo by Cpl. Antonio Rosas)
