English: Marines and sailors from Combat Logistics Battalion 22, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, wait ashore at the North Carolina State Port in Morehead City, N.C., after departing the USS Carter Hall March 8, 2010. Approximately 250 Marines and sailors from CLB-22 deployed to Haiti to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to help alleviate the suffering of the people of Haiti after the horrific earthquake that struck Jan. 12, 2010. The battalion had just returned from a deployment to the U.S. Central Command Theater in the Middle East with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, one month before the earthquake. “This is a testimony to the Marine Corps being a force-in-readiness,” said Gunnery Sgt. Keith A. Sandor, communications chief, CLB-22. “Within 72-hours we were packed up, ready to go.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Meghan J. Canlas) |
