English: 050116-M-3295H-035 KOGGALA, Sri Lanka -- A local woman salvages timber from the Ahangama Primary School in Ahangama, Sri Lanka, Jan. 16 as Chief Petty Officer Elliot C. Galloway, 22, a builder with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion-7, works in the background. The school was destroyed by a Dec. 26 tsunami. More than 18,000 U.S. military personnel have mobilized with ships, aircraft and material to provide assistance via combined support groups in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand. The U.S. military will transition its assistance role to the government of Sri Lanka and relief organizations when they are able to maintain the enormous effort of supporting the long term recovery of Sri Lanka.
