Summary[edit]

Description

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary Supplies ship Largs Bay is loaded with essential aid bound for Haiti, following the earthquake in January 2010. The shipment included temoorary shelter kits, water purification tablets, heavy lifting equipment and 4x4 vehicles, such as these Land Rovers, which were being transported for the Red Cross.

This operation was part of the UK Government’s £20 million emergency aid programme for the earthquake victims in Haiti. The Department for International Development co-ordinated the UK's response to the earthquake, working alongside the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Ministry of Defence. British aid helped more than 350,000 people get food, clean water, shelter and medicine.
