| Description | My brother Loyd took this photo of the Burlington Zephyr in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, in 1956. The Twin Cities Zephyr is about to stop at Prairie du Chien station. This is the train set introduced in 1947, with several Vista-Dome cars and a separate diesel locomotive. It ran from Chicago to Minneapolis-St. Paul. The Twin Cities Zephyr was taken out of service when Amtrak took over most railroad passenger operations in 1971. |
