Description
English: Alkaline syenite from the Precambrian of Greeland.

The very pale pink mineral in this rock is tugtupite, a rare beryllium silicate mineral, Na4BeAlSi4O12Cl - sodium beryllium chloro-aluminosilicate. This photo was taken before the rock was exposed to ultraviolet light (black light).

Geologic unit: Ilímaussaq Complex, late Mesoproterozoic, 1.16 Ga

Locality: unrecorded site on Taseq Slope, near Lake Taseq, far-southern Greenland (? vicinity of 60° 57' 15" North latitude, 45° 56' 35" West longitude)
