Nederlands: Scheepsmodel. Plantage-eigenaren in Suriname verplaatsten zich veelal met boten. De tentboten, zo genoemd vanwege de constructie op het achterdek, werden voortbewogen door een aantal slavenroeiers. De eigenaar zat met zijn gezin onder het afdak.
De welvaart van de planters was af te lezen aan de versiering van zijn tentboot.. Houten model van een tentboot
English: Plantation owners in Suriname moved ofthen in their boats. The boat tent, so named because of the structure at the rear, were driven by a number of slave rowers. The owner sat with his family under the roof.
The prosperity of the planters had to read to the decoration of his tent boat. |
