| Description |
Nederlands: Gravure. Naar zeggen een tekening van professor C. Heck, Leipzig: Straffen en dagelijks slavenleven, vervaardigd voor een nooit uitgegeven encyclopedie. De zweep, het slavenblok en lijfstraffen zijn afgebeeld. Op deze prenten is de ongelijkheid tussen baas en slaaf duidelijk te zien. Een grote slavenmacht behoefde streng toezicht en ontaardde vaak in zware straffen.
De gravure werd gemaakt in staal door Henry Winkles, een architectuur schilder en staalgraveur in de vroege 19de eeuw. Aangezien hij veel samenwerkte met Johann Georg Heck, schrijver van encyclopedische werken uit Leipzig, kan het zeer goed zijn dat het om deze Heck gaat, en niet om C.
