Description
English: Post-attack aerial photograph of the railway yard (Ausbesserungswerk) in Trier-West by a Supermarine Spitfire from 542 Squadron Royal Air Force on 4 April 1943. Eleven Royal Air Force De Havilland Mosquito B.IV bombers (six from No. 105 Squadron, RAF Marham; five from No. 139 Sqn, RAF Manston) attacked the railroad network in Trier, Germany, on 1 April 1943. As the six 105 Sqn. Mosquitoes attacked the railway yard from an altitude of 15 m, the 227 kg bombs ricocheted from the steel roof of the locomotive shop and destroyed the adjacent street car depot of the Stadtwerke Trier.
