Summary[edit]

Description
English: There is a brick school building on Second Street, and the board completed a magnificent brick schoolhouse on State Street in 1873. It was designed by J. E. Fleming, architect, and is 63 by 65 feet, three stories, with basement. The architectural effect is very pleasing, and the structure is surmounted with a cupola for bell. The basement is 9 feet high; first floor 12 feet 6 inches; second floor 13 feet; and third floor 15 feet high. The third floor contains but one room, and is designed for an exhibition hall, etc.
