| Description |
This timeshift mashup shows an archival photograph (c.1925) of the north-east corner of Bloor Street and Avenue Road in Toronto, overlaid on a contemporary photograph taken from the same location 87 years later. The archival image, taken on Monday Sept. 14, 1925, shows ‘Roaring Twenties’ commuters exiting a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Peter Witt streetcar (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Witt_streetcar), which features an advertisement for an upcoming performance of the Sousa Band (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Philip_Sousa), who visited Toronto and Montreal in 1922 and again in 1925. In the center-right of the photos is the Church of the Redeemer, now dwarfed by the surrounding modern high-rises.
