Summary[edit]

Description
English: The English composer Thomas Whythorne (1528–1595) frontispiece to his Duos or Songs for Two Voices (published 1590). A painted portrait of the composer suggests this is a good likeness of the composer.

Author Thomas Este (printer, engraver anon)
Other versions https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portraitLarge/mw42305/Thomas-Whythorne-Whithorne suggests the woodcut was created in 1570, some twenty years before the publication. The National Portrait Gallery woodcut is sharper, suggesting the plate was worn by the time of Este's publication.
