Summary[edit]

Description
English: Letter from Thomas Addenbrooke of Coalbrookedale, near Shiffnal, Shropshire, England, to George Washington, in which Addenbrooke recounts how his grandfather Broadhurst's brother Gerrard Broadhurst died at the home of Washington's ancestor Lawrence Washington at Christmas 1677. Gerrard Broadhurst lived at Nomini, Westmoreland County, Virginia, and left Col. Nicholas Spencer and Lt. Col. John Washington, ancestor of George Washington, as trustees of his estate. Addenbrooke writes to Washington seeking clues to his supposed inheritance, having not received a response to an earlier letter sent by Addenbrooke to Washington.
