Summary[edit]

Description
English: This way to Horsey Gap. This track links Crinkle Hill Gap > 1016217 with Horsey Gap > 1083412 further to the northwest. It doubles as a public footpath and closely follows the dunes. Marsh pastures adjoin on the other side. Heavy plant activity is evident along this section of path and access onto the beach via Crinkle Hill Gap is presently blocked. On the other side of Bramble Hill Gap > 1016257 many signs had been put up on the dunes and on the beach below several months ago, all alerting to ongoing construction work and to the dangers of heavy plant crossing. Sections of beach where work is ongoing are still closed to the public, such as > 1016263 earlier this year. Priority was given to work along the several kilometres of beach which are populated by grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) so as not to disturb the animals during the breeding season. 30,000 tonnes of rock, shipped by barge, will be brought in to reinforce sea defences between Horsey Ness > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/946875 and Winterton Ness Gap, replacing the damaged groynes in the area > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/946906 and to construct a 275 metre long section of rock revetment at Eccles > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/802681 and 280,000 cubic metres of sand will be dredged from the seabed 10 miles offshore between Yarmouth and Lowestoft - it has already been predicted that the close proximity of this operation to the coast will cause further problems - in order to build up the beaches at Sea Palling > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/919741 and Waxham > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/801579 - starting in October.
