Deutsch: Theodor(us) Schrevel(ius). Stich von Jonas Suyderhoeff nach einem Gemälde des Malers Franz Hals (1581-1666). Der Stich stellt den Humanisten, Schriftsteller, Dichter und Rektor der Haarlemer Lateinschule dar. Übersetzung der Inschriften: Im Oval: „Echthron adora dora“ (griech.): „Geschenke von Feinden sind keine Geschenke“. „Theodorus Schrevelius Gymnasiarcha Harlemensis“ (lat.): „Theodor Schrevel Schulleiter in Haarlem“. Übersetzung des lateinischen Textes unterhalb des Portraits: „Damals den Mann gemalt zu haben, leicht ist es, da kräftiges Alter und Antlitz selbst meinen Schrevel gemalt haben. Jetzt den Greis zu loben, dem - Rache des Phoebus - traurige Fremde ein erstarrtes Haupt gab, ist schwerer. Der alle leben lehrte, lebt allein sich, und seine Zunge, beredt in lateinischen Worten, sie schweigt. Wie vergeblich die Schulen, so vergeblich die vielen Mühen, um Ruhe bittet das Greisengrab die noch Lebenden“.
