river one quarter of a mile, run acrossto the mouth of a small run on the right within 100 yards of theshore ; keep down about 200 yards, then wear out into the middle ofthe river to avoid a small rock bar on the right, until j^ou come to thefoot of Dewets bar, then wear in within 100 yards of the left handshore, run in this direction for one mile, then into the middle of theriver to the head of Swan bar, about two miles and a half belowDewets bar. As you approach the head of Swan bar, bear in to some rocks onthe right hand shore at the head of the bar, then to about 50 yards ofthe right hand shore to the foot of the bar. Buffingtons Island This island lies close into the right shore, below a right hand pointjat low water, the channel is in the middle, between the island onthe right and dam on the left.
