Description

"The unbearable heaviness of being" , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, xx

Lightness and weightiness are both linked to a philosophy of life. They are choices in life.

While we teeter on the tightrope between the present and the future, confronting the limits of our imagination, life may one day help us unsuspectedly unlock the secret door between urgent and substantial flows. If we have the knack of recognizing the discrepancy between pressure and loosening up, between hurry-scurry and meditation, we can create our own lane and avoid the pitfalls crowding our days.

Heaviness can embody a sense of responsibility, the expression of maturity, the result of profound meditation, or the emanation of a search for meaning in life.

When we experience it as a burden, weightiness may lead to oppression: an unbearable burden. If so, the time has come to release and offload a stale environment.

We let loose and liberate ourselves. Physical or mental dependence can be alleviated and evaporated. Eventually, things lose their gravity, their weightiness. The day we finally hold ourselves accountable, rather than blaming others, and come clean about our responsibilities, we unfetter ourselves from ravaging frustrations and fretting crankiness.

If the whole world is in a rush and people are out of step with themselves, they fail to catch the quirky aura and the exceptional quality of life that feeds our soul-searching frame of mind and builds a coveted haven, giving recognition and self-reliance.

Phenomenon: Lightness and weightiness of life.

Factual starting point : Rock and man with bowler hat
