oad, rip-pling shallow the Apache warriors had reported to theirchief, and into this he led his men without a momentshesitation. Steady, boys ; pick your tracks. Where the ripplesshow, the bottom isnt far down, but it may be a littlerough. A large part of it was rough enough, but Captain Skinnerseemed to be able to steer clear of anything really danger-ous, and in a few minutes more he was leading them out onthe southerly shore. Now, boys, he said, do you see what weve done ? Weve got across the river, said Bill, without anymore of us gettin drownded.
