Text Appearing Before Image:
arrying an injured man on a stretcher, andwhile on the defendants track, his wagon was struck bya car coming from the opposite direction. Plaintiffsdriver gave evidence, which was corroborated, that hesaw the car and tried to pull off of the track, doing soslowly on account of the injured man; that when aboutsixty feet from the car, he hallooed as loud as he couldto stop the car; that the driver was looking behind his carand did not attempt to slacken the speed before the col-ision. Held, that defendants motion for a non-suit was A BIG MAN. ONE of the curiosities of the Greenbush horse cars,New York, is a car which carries a driver whoseweight is 342 pounds and height 6 feet 4^inches. This driver is obliged to wear a very low crowncap to avoid contact between his head and the roof of thecar. He is also obliged to have his wearing apparel, from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet, madeto order. In common with very large men generally, this driver is as full of fun as a kitten.
Text Appearing After Image:
properly denied, as driving a wagon on a street car trackis not negligence per se, and the evidence was sufficient toshow the car driver negligent in not looking ahead toobserve whether the track was clear. Sup. Ct. Cal. Swain v. Fourteenth St. Ry. Co., 28Pac. Rep. 829. TRANSPORTATION BUILDING. It is reported that the Town Council of Chemnitz hasauthorized the Berhn General Electric Company to layout a new tramway line, and arrange that the existingone shall be worked by electricity. WE present on this page a view of the interior ofthe transportation building in the grand court^looking north. The magnificent extent of thebuilding is well shown and the exterior is wonderfullyrepresentative of the worlds progress in a series of bas-reliefs. The very fine engraving that we are enabled topresent is the same that appeared in the last issue ofthe Illustrated Worlds Fair and is one of the series show-ing the gradual progress of all departments. 361 HEATHS TROLLEY BASE.
