MCtaURE ELLIPIICAL SPRING TRUCK. SHORTS SYSTEM IN SIAM. IT is not a small compliment that the Short ElectricRailway Company, of Cleveland, has the contract forthe electrifying of the Bankok, Siam, Tramways.The present road is six mile in length. 30-inch gauge andis laid with 45-lb. rails. The road is almost entirely level,the only unusual features in its construction being thefourteen canal bridges which it crosses. It is the inten-tion of the company for the present to equip about one-half the entire length of the road for electric traction. This will necessitate the immediate shipment of 17,200feet of overhead construction, including side brackets.On account of insects, teak wood poles are required,which will be furnished by the Bankok Company. Theywill also supply their own boilers, An engine and two 65-horse-power generators will besent, as well as all necessary station apparatus and six carseach with one 20-horse-power motor.
