Here, Topsy, headded, whistling as one would call the at-tention of a puppy dog, give us a songand show Miss Ophelia how well you candance. Topsys eyes glittered with a kind ofwicked drollery, and then, in a clear, shrillvoice, she struck up an old negro melody,to which she kept time with her hands andfeet, spinning round, clapping her hands,knocking her knees together and shufflingher feet.
