In raising hogs, as in raising other stock, the pro-gressive farmer will take care that he keeps only thebest breeds. His object is to change the raw productof his farm into pork with as little loss as possible. Ithas been found that to do so most successfully requiresbreeds like the Chester White, of Pennsylvania, thePoland-China, of Ohio, the Duroc or Jersey Red,of New Jersey, the Yorkshire, derived from the largewhite swine of England, the Black Suffolk and theBerkshire, which we also got from England. TheBerkshire is by many considered the most profitable.
