Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe ruins of Craigend Cottage - geograph.org.uk - 772852.jpg |
English: The ruins of Craigend Cottage Situated in woodland to the west-southwest of Barnhills Farm and difficult to photograph due to encroaching trees. Most of the building has gone but the outline is still shown on the 1:25000 O.S. Explorer Map and the cottage is named on an 1858 map of Roxburghshire (6" to one mile). I received the following information from Warren Lang of New South Wales, Australia:-
In 1786, this was the home of a weaver, John Lang. His grandson, also John Lang, migrated to Australia aboard the famous full-rigged ship Marco Polo. John Lang who migrated to Australia was Warren's great great grandfather. |
