Until 1904 there were about ten cruisers andother vessels on the North American station, the flagofficer of which had the status of a Commander-in-Chief.In the redistribution of that year, most of these ships werewithdrawn and their places taken by training ships of theParticular Service Squadron, of which the Commander-in-Chief took charge. In 1907, on a change of flag officers,the new admiral ceased to be a Commander-in-Chief, andthe squadron was no longer designated for ParticularService, while in 1909, it ceased to be associated with theNorth American station in name, and became simply theFourth Cruiser Squadron. This was replaced in 1913 bythe West Atlantic Squadron. INDUSTRIES.
