The diagonal curved lines, marked 20, 30, 40,and 55, are the age lines for men; the lines designated by the sign °^are the age lines for women. The intermediate ages fall at propor-tionate distances between these curved lines. The intersections ofthe age lines with the vertical height lines fix the normal weightpoints. The weights at intervals of 5 pounds are recorded onthe horizontal lines to the right of the diagonal curved lines. Now, let us suppose that a man s6 in height and twentyyears of age weighs 225 pounds; how much is he overweight?His normal weight is 135I pounds. Passing from the normalweight-point horizontally to the right until we reach the verticalline marked 225, we find ourselves just outside the 65 per cent.line; such a person is thus found to be 66 per cent, overweight.Again, supposing the weight to be 100 pounds, we pass horizon-tally to the left to the 100 pounds vertical line; the intersectionof our weight line with this vertical line shows him to be 26 percent, underweight.
