hese panels is a narrow edging or frame of small squares ofvitreous paste of different colors; then comes a border of scroll-work andmedallions within anodier edging similar to the first. The whole affair is notmore than seven inches long by five inches wide and height, and may be calleda bijoii to contain bijoux. England may well be proud of the exhibition made by her colonies atour Centennial Fair. India, Australia, New Zealand, Ceylon, British Guiana,and the far-away setdements on the Gold Coast, the Bahamas, the Bermudasand Trinidad, Queensland and the Canadas, each and all have come to us,their elder sister, proud to show us and each other the evidence of their young,vigorous life. Yet some of these colonies have already reached a maturitywhen they begin to look forward to being their own masters; and it is likely,before many more years have passed, that the mother-country will assist themto set up governments for themselves.
