Summary[edit]

Description
English: "The little man with the gold coins", Jürgen Echle, wood, Mummelsee, Northern Black Forest, Germany.

A hunter was hunting at the Mummelsee. He saw a little man sitting on the water with gold pieces. The hunter shot at the little man, but the little man immersed and was not hit.

The little man said to the hunter, "I would have given you the gold if you had not shot; in the future you will not hit anything with your gun". From that day on the hunter did not hit any animal.

Deutsch: "Das Männchen mit den Goldstücken", Jürgen Echle, Holz, Mummelsee, Nordschwarzwald, Deutschland.

Der Jäger trifft nicht Hirsch noch Reh,
verdrießlich geht er am Mummelsee.
Was sitzt am Ufer? - Ein Waldmännlein,
Mit Golde spielt es im Abendschein. -
Mit Schabernack, husch, und mit Gik und mit Gack;
(August Kopisch)
