The coal production of theCapitan mines is 100,000 tons a year. There are extensive un-developed coal fields and iron ore deposits which presage fut-ure industrial prominence. It has produced several mihiondollars worth of gold, its principal mining camps being atWhite Oaks, Nogal and Jicarilla. Fine timber covers the moun-tain sides and the Lincoln ForestReserve is situated in LincolnCounty. There are two saw mills, one flour mill and a numberof reduction and cement works. These rugged hills rising inbroken line to meet the blue arch of heaven furnish everchang-ing scenery for the eye, as every glance reveals some newbeauty to them.
