By this process, nearly all the material is brought on the face of the work,without the waste there is in the satin-stitch, which leaves as much on the wrongside as on the face of the work; and the French knot-stitch, which is used to rep-resent the seeds in the centre, and also when necessary, on the ends of the stamens. The Herring-Bone-Stitch, is used for plain, simple work on linen, etc.;and is so well known, that we will not occupy the space required for a description.By inserting the needle diagonally, instead of straight, and with a double branch in-stead of single, it becomes the coral-stitch. The Arasene, the Gi^ecian,the Persian, the Tent, the Star, and the Feather-Stitch, each and all,deserve a special treatise; but as we have given in the main what is embraced in allof them, we are reminded by the matter that claims place in the work to close, bygiving some examples in actual work.
