Fromthe south-east extremity, it recedes nearly 5 milesdue north, up the South Devon, across the Devon,and along a generally artificial path; it then proceeds17 milesehiefly westward and partly south- westward,across the Ochils and Strathallan, guided most of theway by a range of heights, by a tributary of the Allan,and by the Allan itself, till, deviating from that river,it falls upon the Forth just at the confluence withit of the Teirh.
