June 21.—John BufFett, and the otherson Lord Hoods Island, embarked in theFrench frigate Bordeaux Packet, and onthe 27th landed at Pitcairns Island. Dur-ing our absence our hogs have gone wild,and destroyed our crops. After we re-turned, we employed ourselves in destroy-ing the hogs. 1838, November 29.—Arrived, H. M.S. Fly, Captain Russell Elliott, with apresent from Hev. Mr. Howlandson andcongregation at Valparaiso. Captain El-liott proposed electing a chief-magistrate,which was adopted; and Edward Quintalwas chosen.
