It is reprfented in the plate as an Eujiyle^ that is to fahaving its intercolumniations ot two diameters, arthe fourth of a pillar, in order to render it in fonmeafure conformable to the proportions givenby Pliny, for which reafon alfo the fpace betweithe two middle pillars is fomewhat larger thordinary. For Pliny tells us, that the architravethe middle was fo exceeding large, that it was feiged the goddefs placed it there herfelf, upon tarchiteds defpaiiing of being able to do it.
