When convulsionsoccur the physician should be summoned;until then, the following general rules shouldbe followed:Mustard An ice-cold cloth or an ice-bag may be laid Foot-bath. & * on the head. A mustard foot-bath should begiven by immersing the feet in water, as hotas can be borne by the hand, to wThich oneor twTo tablespoonfuls of powdered mustardshould be added. The feet should be batheduntil the skin is reddened or until the muscu-lar rigidity ceases. The bath should not beprolonged more than three minutes. If thespasm continues after the mustard foot-bathhas been given, then a pint of soapwatershould be injected into the bowels as an enemaand continued until a movement of the bowelsresults.

Her milk should be exam-ined by a physician or chemist to determinewhether or no enough fat (cream) is present.If a deficiency of cream exists then we can givebaby one or more teaspoonfuls of cream fromcows milk, in a little warm water immedi-ately before nursing. Several teaspoonfuls ofwater sweetened with granulated sugar andgiven before nursing will frequently relieveconstipation.
