Description
English: The eastern end of Great Pulteney Street This photograph shows were Sydney Place meets Great Pulteney Street. This famous street was designed by Thomas Baldwin in 1788 and is situated east of the city centre. Measuring a 1000 feet long and 100 feet wide the individual terraced houses were built by different builders over a period of about five years. Named after the daughter of Sir William Pulteney, Henrietta Laura (1766-1808) who was his heiress and so became the Countess of Bath.
