| Description |
English: The church of St Peter in Needham. Only the round tower remains of the original St Peter's church > 1771164 that stood here in Norman times, chancel and nave were built in the 15th century and the chancel was entirely rebuilt by William Freston in 1735 - his monument > 1771179 can be seen on the south wall. The brick south porch > 1771169 is medieval as are a number of carved bench ends > 1771174 in the nave, the backs of which were made from later woodwork. One may have come from a screen and has an inscription > 1771177 carved in the wood. The baptismal font > 1771185 dates from the 15th century also. |
