ABERDEEN-ANGUS COW BRUCES QUEEN (5312). Calved March 2, 1879; bred by Mr. David A. Pearson, JohnstonLodge, Lawrencekirk, Scotland; purchased by Mr. Geo. Bruce, ofAberdeen, and- sold to her present owners, Messrs. Gudgell & Simp-son, Independence, Mo.; got by M. P. (1250), (a richly-bred Prideof Aberdeen bull got by the prize-taking Queen Mother bull Mou-diewart (686), out of Pride of Aberdeen 3d (1168) by Black Princeof Tillyfour (^66)^, dam Annie of Johnston (1212), bred by JamesLeslie, of The Thorn, and sired by a bull from Tillyfour. BrucesQueen was first in her class and won a special cup at the Kincar-dine Show in Scotland in 1881, and since her importation, in thehands of Messrs. Gudgell & Simpson, at the great fairs of 1882 and1883 was a frequent winner of class and sweepstakes prizes. Sketchedfrom life by Burk. (316)
