Sorrow sits upon every countenanoe. Un-der such circumstances, and while bending beneaththe weight ot this great calamity, it seems proper thatI should invite all citizens to suspend their ordinaryavocations, and to give testimony to their sense of Ithe countrys affliction. I therefore request that all public and privateplaces of business be closed and remain closed duringthe day. I request that all the bells of the oity be tolled onehour, from 12 to 1 oclock, this day.
