it was deemed advisableto vest the right to the same in a com-pany. Accordingly the North AmericanGutta Percha Company was incorpo-rated, under the General ManufacturingLaw of the State of New York, to beunder the management of a Board ofTrustees, with a capital of five hundredthousand dollars, divided into shareshundred dollars each. This Company have an extensive establishmentin Twenty-tifth street, in this city, covering eightlots of ground; their machinery is of the mostapproved make, and very ponderous, weighingover one hundred thousand pounds, which is dri-ven by a splendid engine of cne hundred horse-power. The cutting, cleansing, mixing, grinding, cal-lendering and vulcanizing-rooms are all arrangedwith regard to the economical despatch of busi-ness—the work-rooms are light and airy, and thewhole establishment is lighted with gas. Theestablishment employs about two hundred fe-males, and fifty men and boys, and can turn outsix hundred thousand dollars worth of goods perannum.
