ndi-gent consumptives of Los Angeles, whowere still in the curable stages of thedisease, could obtain the advantages ofthe onen-air treatment and so be given a fair chance of recovery, suggesteditself to the founder of the institutionseveral years ago; for the hopeless con-dition of the scores and scores of poorconsumptives who reside in Los Ange-les and the unsatisfactory and insuffi-cient arrangements for their care andtreatment had impressed the need of aproper institution for the treatment ofthese unfortunate people upon Dr. Bar-low, as it has upon all who have evertaken the pains to investigate thisproblem.
