Description
English: As a man tries unsuccessfully to stretch a sheep skin over a giant wolf (representing "the Old Gang" of political corruption), Norman Black - former editor of the Grand Forks Herald - states that he will simply whitewash the wolf with the North Dakota Good Government League (of which he was executive secretary).
  • Caption: This is a pictorial conception of the Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, referred to below. The lamb's hide in this case is much too small to cover the beast of prey or to conceal its claws and fangs, but Painter Black is an expert in wielding the whitewash brush and he hopes with a judicious use of lime to dress the animal up in a way that will deceive the uncritical observer. Will it deceive any farmers? We don't think so. They are pretty good judges of livestock and they have a habit of looking at the teeth of any animal they buy.
