The NOAA-NASA #SuomiNPP🛰️shows the #smoke (gray, wispy areas) and the locations of active #fires (red dots) in #Bolivia from very early today (August 22, 2019). The city lights of Santa Cruz, Bolivia’s largest city, are visible as the bright, white glow in the left-center of the image.
Deutsch: Der südamerikanische Staat Bolivien in der Mitte des Bildes mit der Region Santa Cruz. Waldbrände 2019 in Brasilien und Bolivien (mit Videos): Das NOAA-Satellitenbild (@NOAASatellitePA #SuomiNPP🛰️) zeigt den Rauch (graue, milchigtrübe Bereiche) und die Orte von aktiven Feuern (rote Punkte) in Bolivien westlich der Grenze zu Brasilien etwas eher heute am Tag (22. August 2019). Die Lichter von Boliviens grösster Stadt Santa Cruz im Tiefland östlich der Anden sind links im Bild als helle weisse Struktur in der Nacht zu sehen. Die hügelige Tieflandregion südlich des Amazonas-Regenwaldes (weiter oberhalb) mit Trockenwäldern war zu diesem Zeitpunkt am stärksten betroffen, weite Teile waren bereits in den Jahren zuvor für die Landwirtschaft abgeholzt worden.
