here hebuilt up a record as a model boy which hasscarcely been surpassed in the tales ofHoratio Alger or Parson Weems. According to the almost unanimous ac-counts of his teachers, his relatives andschoolmates, young Tom Dewey was by farthe smartest and best-behaved boy inschool. He was never late for classes, andnever missed a days attendance, even forthe usual childhood illnesses. When hecaught measles, he caught them just as theEaster vacation began, and was all healedand ready for school again on the day thevacation ended. Even injuries could not keep him fromschool. One day the high-school principal,C. C. Tuck, met him limping through thehall covered with bandages and bruises. What in the world happened to you? heasked. Football, said Dewey. You ought to be home, looking afteryourself, the principal told him. Oh, no, replied Tom. If I stayed homeId miss school, and spoil my perfect atten-dance record. And besides, I have to go outfor practice this afternoon. (Continued on Page 137)

For extra-sturdiness, theyre woven with a tape selvage thatabsorbs extra strains. Luxury sheets and pillow cases at budget prices!
