61 THE ROBERTSON COLLECTION EXTRACT FROM THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE CHIEF LIBRARIANFOR THE YEAR 1916. The J. Ross Robertson Historical Collection has completely filled theHistorical Room, and the collection of Canadian prints must now cease.This matter was brought to the attention of the Board in my report of lastyear as a possibility which needed to be considered. It is no longer atheory; it is now a condition to be faced. Mr. Robertson has his greatcatalogue ready and in it are recorded and described at some length 3,600Canadian prints illustrating early Canadian life, customs and events, all ofwhich through his munificence are now the property of this Public LibraryBoard. During the year Mr. Robertson acquired a collection of water colorsdepicting early bird life in the Province of Ontario.
