English: The Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building, National Memorial Arboretum The Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building at the National Memorial Arboretum is a building that was officially opened on the 15th August 2005, the 60th anniversary of the end of the War in South East Asia. Which is better known as V.J. Day (Victory over Japan).
Just to the left of the photograph is a block with a moulded bronze plaque depicting Changi Jail which held prisoners of the Japanese Military. The people held at the Changi Jail were both Military and Civilian. The block that the plaque is attached to came from the original jail wall. |
